25 years of rhinoplasty course in Stuttgart

This year 25th Stuttgart Advanced Course for Functional & Aesthetic Rhinoplasty took place from the 25th to the 28th of april in combination with the second Course for Nose Reconstruction. For the last quarter of a century this course has developed to one of the world’s most attractive nose courses. Not only because every year 10 live surgeries are shown in all levels of difficulty with most of the cases being secondary cases, but also because only once surgical concept is shown, the Stuttgart school. All of this is demonstrated with the most modern audiovisual techniques.

A lot of times participants are confused by the many different methods used by the different surgeries during live surgery courses. In Stuttgart the demonstrated techniques and concepts are discussed with invited experts, furthermore the last year’s cases are evaluated together. Additionally new concepts of teaching were introduced: After detailed analysis of form and function the panel participants developed surgical concepts, which then were compared with our concept. This was then shown along the video recordings. This practice related teaching was appreciated by the participants.

As a special highlight for this anniversary course, which was visited by 180 participants from all over the world, was the release of Prof. Gubisch’s new book “Mastering Advanced Rhinoplasty”. At the same time the anniversary course was the ideal moment to pass on the responsibility for this successful course to Prof. Gubisch’s successor Dr. Sebastian Haack.

Dr. Helmut Fischer, longtime Senior Consultant von Prof. Gubisch, with whom he built up the Clinic for Facial Plastic Surgery at the Marienhospital, organized the second Course for Nose Reconstruction following the Advanced Course for Functional & Aesthetic Rhinoplasty. Fred Menick from Tuscon, Arizona, leading surgeon in the field of nasal reconstruction took part as a faculty member. Courses with this topic are very seldom and the discussion held with the experts from Corea and Europe thrilled the many participants.

Stuttgart once more demonstrated its leading role in nasal surgery and many participants are planning on returning next year.
